When we arrived in Taormina we were starving so we stopped at a restaurant that had a great view of the ocean. Here we ate some good pizza and enjoyed the view. We then went and found our hotel. It was a cute little place and the owners were very nice and helpful. After dropping off our stuff we went for a walk around an adorable little city. It was up on a cliff and had a great view of the ocean and Mt. Etna which was active and smoking a lot. We enjoyed some granitas and a yummy canulli that night and then headed back to our hotel.
I really wanted to see the sunrise on the ocean so the next morning we woke up a little after 5 and walked down the pathway to the bottom of the cliff (the cable car that takes you up and down did not open until 8) we made it down there just in time, however we went to the wrong beach and ended up having a big hill in our way. But we got to see part of it and it was very romantic and relaxing. I am not a morning person but I really enjoyed the quietness of the town and the time I had to spend with Kevin. We ended up laying on the beach and sleeping a little until the cable car opened up. We went back up ate breakfast and went back to sleep for a couple of hours. We then headed down to a beach where we rented a sun chair and relaxed for the rest of the day. We of course ate some good sicilian food. Arancino's were fried rice balls with meat and sauce inside and boy were they yummy. We were going to get in the pool that night but we ended up being to cold and instead just went back down town to eat some more food and a yummy desert called Cassata and relaxed.
Taormina was beautiful and very relaxing which was exactly what we needed towards the end of this trip.
