The Rose City

Since Kevin and I officially live in the rose city we decided to participate in the rose festival. Our participation included a night of fireworks with some friends, and a couple hours at the rose parade. The fireworks were in lack of a better word, lame. They were very short and not very exciting in general, but the company was great so that made up for it.

We debated back and forth about going to the parade the next day, and then decided that since it was going to be a nice day we should get out and enjoy it, so we went. The parade was fun, but very long and therefore we did not survive the whole thing. We road the bus downtown to help avoid traffic. After waiting an hour or so for it to begin (we thought we were arriving late, which we did, however the parade starts on the other side of the river and had to make its way over to us which took a long time). We stayed for about half the parade, were able to see lots of marching bands, and received a one sided sunburn. Later that day, while at the store, a man mentioned that he had lived in Portland for 12 years and this was the first Rose parade day that it wasn't raining. So we were glad we went and enjoyed the Portland experience.

Waiting for the parade to start
