Cannon beach round 2 (for Kevin)

I will be the first to admit I was not to happy about this trip, but survived nonetheless. OHSU took all the first year class to Cannon beach for a dental conference and a sort of get to know your classmates thing. However, none of the spouses were allowed to go. Kevin left early Thursday morning and spent the day in meetings and relaxing on the beach playing frizbee and having bonfires. I spent the day with the other dental wives at a picnic and swimming (thank goodness or I might have gone crazy). They stayed at a hotel right on the beach. Lucky huh!

The next day Kevin had some team building activities where they had a sand castle building contest. The theme was Olympics. This is his teams sand castle (The London Bridge).

When Kevin arrived home at 5 on Friday I was a little excited! I was glad he was able to go and get to know his classmates but I sure wish I could have gone with him :)

Great Wolf Lodge

Before Kevin started school the Berg family was able to sneak in a little family reunion. The reunion was at Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mounds Washington. The night before Pat, Stacey, and Carly stayed the night at our place (It's kind of nice to be the middle town). The next day we headed up there and met EVERYONE else. Yes I said everyone was there except sweet little Crew of course. Anyways we spent the day exploring the hotel and playing in the water, going down all the slides, and really enjoying the wave pool.

That night we had a yummy dinner together as a family and enjoyed watching these cute little wolves. The night was then ended with all the boys playing in the arcade. Talk about competitive (I see where Kevin gets it now)

The next day was another day of fun. We played lots and had some more family time. We however had to separate that afternoon. It was a great get together with the Berg family and we were sad to see everyone go but it was fun to get together with everyone! Thanks Pat and Stacey for a great weekend!

Cannon Beach

I was always told that the Oregon coast is beautiful but always a little bit chilly. So when we were told that the coast was supposed to hit 89' degrees we jumped at the opportunity to go to the beach, and so did everyone else. The coast is supposed to take an hour and a half however due to traffic, it was about 2 hours. However once we got there we were thrilled to enjoy the sunshine. The weather was perfect! A slight breeze, lots of sunshine, and lots of relaxing. We laid out for a while, attempted to get in the water a couple times (even though it was warm the water was still freezing!).

After relaxing for a couple hours we decided we wanted to take a walk on the beach. We took all our stuff back to the car so we could go walk around, and then started heading back to the beach. My blood had been running low, and so as we were walking away Kevin asked if we should grab some kind of food and take it with us just in case. We turned back, I opened the trunk, grabbed some crackers, closed the trunk. I then turned to Kevin and asked "do you have the keys". His reply was "no you used them to open the trunk". Oops they were still in the trunk. Kevin started panicking a little bit and for some odd reason I was really calm, which i think was a little annoying to Kevin. We proceeded to call the sheriffs office and see if they would come unlock it. The lady said no they do not so I would have to call a locksmith to come unlock it. It was then that I remembered Triple AAA. Thank you mom and dad who have AAA on there cars. We called and within the hour the locksmith had come and unlocked the car! Whew.

So after our little mishap we went for our walk down the beach and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and weather for a little longer. We even managed to get a sunburn on the Oregon coast (didn't know that was possible).

Portlandia

So we made it to Portland!

(okay so we made it awhile ago but I have just been to ~~lazy~~ I mean busy to blog about our adventures so far)

Driving out Kevin and I had to drive separate cars because we were bringing both of ours out here, we stayed the first night in Caldwell at Uncle Steve's and then the next day continued on to Portland. My parents followed the next day with all our stuff. And boy did we have A-L-O-T of stuff. Luckily the ward here was great and we had 3 men and the missionaries all show up to help so it was a quick unload.

We spent the rest of the day with my parents. They helped us unpack a little and then we visited the beautiful temple. YAY for being 15 min from a temple.

My parents had to leave the next day and head back to Idaho for a cattle convention (sounds fun huh?!?) Needless to say there were lots of tears shed the next day between Kevin and my dad. They had just grown so close in Idaho. HAHA okay lets be serious the tears were all shed between my mom and I. It was a hard to say goodbye to two of my best friends, but don't worry we talk everyday (whether they want to or not). We have spent months away from each other while I lived in Germany but its possible that it will be longer then months before I see them again. But lets be honest I started planning a trip to get them back here asap and they are coming this weekend to visit so it was only a month and a half.

Kevin and i spent the next couple weeks before school started exploring the city and area and putting the apartment together. I admit I was a little gung-ho about putting the house together. And Kevin looked like this for hours and hours as I made him help put everything together and up on the wall.

Kevin noticed that I was really focused on getting everything done, and asked me to sit down and relax for a bit. It is possible I just had a break down and cried about how it did not feel like home to me and I wanted to be home. So I was hoping that maybe once I got everything up I would feel more at home -Homesickness anybody?- Anyways we did finally get it all up and I was right it did help a lot. Lets be honest it is still not quite home but it is getting there more and more each day. Our apartment is bigger then our one in Rexburg which means we have lots of storage which is good due to all ~~our~~ my stuff. . We love the area and the complex and our only complaint is the road traffic (the apartment was cheaper, then other ones on the complex because it was by a road), it is not too bad though so we can't complain too much.

Our stars (so as I am putting these up Kevin asked "Have you ever lived anywhere where you did not have stars on your ceiling" "Of course not, and a blame my mother who got me addicted to them" And then he teased me for the next 10 minutes. However last night on Family feud the question was "What is something you put above your bed". There was only one answer left and I knew it "STARS". Kevin didn't believe me but I was so right. I would have won that round! See stars are beneficial)
